Hello
I have some problem with scene rendering using Vray. I was trying to do some sample renderings to check the textures, the last time when I opened the file everything was fine. But I opened it today again and it's not working properly.
My sample scene view looks like this:
And here is after rendering:
Only some part of a grass on the first plan is in a right place, the rest of the model is far away in the red circle.
I already had the same problem before, I think I tried to reinstall vray, because nothing was helping. It worked back then, but now it doesn;t change anything. Anyway, I would like to find some better solution than reinstaling it everytime.
Maybe somebody knows whad could I do?
Thanks!
Regards,
Paulina

Hi Paulina,
Thanks for your question. Your top image shows a Perspective view, zoomed into the building, but the bottom image shows the entire scene zoomed way out, possibly to include the foreground objects (which are far away from the main building geometry). This may be because you set up your Perspective view as you liked, but then accidentally hit the Zoom Extents All button in 3ds Max, which zoomed out to encompass all the visible geometry in the scene.
If this is the case, I would create a Physical Camera, position it exactly where you want it to show the desired views/angles, and then always use Camera views instead of Perspective views, since those aren't "sticky." (Also, if you do create a Perspective view that you like, you can always hit Control-C to create a default camera in that exact spot, and your active Perspective viewport will then change to the newly-created Camera view.)
Can you please try this and let us know if this helps?
Take care, and we hope to hear from you soon!

Hello
Thank you for your answer. Could you tell me where can I find the Zoom Extents All button?
I tried with the Physical Camera, unfortunately it doesn't work. It seems like it's the opposite of what I got before and now everything is zoomed in too much.

Hi Paulina,
Thanks for your update. The Zoom Extents All button is down in the lower-right-hand corner of the 3ds Max user interface, as shown in the attached image. (You can also go to the 3ds Max Help file and type in any of these UI names it will show you their location and information on them.)
If you cannot create a proper camera from your Perspective view, can you try creating a new one from the Command Panel (and targeted Physical camera), and then adjusting it to get the exact camera angles that you need?
Please let us know if this helps!

Just checking to see if your rendering problem has been solved. Have you tried the above suggestions from @jon.bell and did you have any success? If you find the suggestions helpful, please click on the "Accept as Solution" button in his reply so this helps other users in the community find the solution too. Thanks!

Hello @jon.bell @lynn_zhang
So I tried the solution with a camera and unfortunately it's not working, or I'm still doing something wrong. The view from the camera is like this
And the output render from the view looks like this
When I press the Zoom Extents All button the view is like here
But I don;t know if the problem can be in some extra geometry besides the model?

Hi Paulina,
Thanks for your update, and I'm sorry that you're still having these rendering issues.
When you go to render from your Camera view, is your Rendering > Render Setup menu showing your Camera in the View to Render menu? Can you also check your Area to Render settings in this menu as well?
There's a possibility that this output is set incorrectly in either your 3ds Max Render menu (perhaps locked to a different view) or in your V-Ray frame window. If your Camera viewport is showing a wide-angle view of your scene, but the rendered output is showing a close-up of your grass, then it seems that the rendering settings themselves have been changed.
Please let us know if this information helps, and we hope to hear from you soon!
Take care,

Hello
I chceked both Camera View and Area to Render settings and it seems to be fine there. Camera View is set for my camera, Area to Render is set to "View".
Weird thing is, that previously I obtained a good render using this settings, I didn't change anything and after opening the file for the next time, the problem appeared.
You said that maybe something is incorrect in 3ds Max Render menu, should I check it somewhere else except of that window?
