Object properties By Object greyed out/dimmed

Hello everyone !

I'm working on 3DS Max 2018 in my new office, and I experienced problem with my rendering control properties. I wanted to make my VrayLight "Invisible to reflection/refraction" but i can't have access to this parameter. It's dimmed 😞 ( See on image attached)
I've checked online, i've tired different thing like change the Default UI Layout, or the "Default to By Layer for News Nodes in the Preference > tab General > Layer Defaults, but nothing changed 😞

Do you have any ideas ?

Merci !

I don`t know VRay Lights, but is setting this property even possible with lights?

For example, in Arnold the lightsource has the controls for this (Light Shape Visible) in the command panel rollout of the light.

So you might check this for VRay Lights.

Hi,

You're searching in the wrong place for these settings,

Select the V-Ray light, and in the modify panel you'll see the Vray light properties,

From the Options, rollout check Invisible and uncheck Affect Reflections

It worked !
Thank you 😃

I was aware of this this Option tab, i've used the "invisible" parameter first, but i was 100% sure I use to use the Object Properties menu to change the visibility in mirrors etc. Thought "Affect Reflection" would affect reflection of the light or something like that… 😒
I'll try at home.

It is normal then that I can't have access neither can't see the "Object information" tab ? Because it's a Vray Light ?

Merci  😄

Yes, exactly. "Object Properties", with V-Ray lights, only gives you the option "Renderable", and this option is only available when you use "By Object".

Bonne journée! 🙂
