drag and drop from not working max 2023

Max 2023 won't let me drag and drop from explorer. It's driving me insane. How can this be fixed?

Hi,

Right-click the Max shortcut, Properties, then Advanced, and make sure Run As Administrator is unchecked

in max 2022, i just recently started having this problem HOWEVER, it works with 1 running instance of 3ds Max 2022, but if i open a 2nd instance and drag-n-drop a scene file into that instance, it doesn't work.

this is only with scene files that i've seen so far.  i should be getting a pop-up that says open/merge/xref.  i get that in the 1st running instance, but not the 2nd.

Out of curiosity, are you dragging and dropping from the desktop, network locations, or C:/ root?
