Consistent Spline Chamfer modifier - 'Radius' instead of 'Amount'

The Spline Chamfer modifier does not work the same as the Fillet/Chamfer modifier.

Two lines meeting in a point:

The 'Amount' spinner in the Spline Chamfer modifier is the length that is cut off from the lines.

The 'Radius' spinner in the Fillet/Chamfer modifier is the radius of the circle segment that connects the lines

(See attached screenshot.)

It would be useful if the Spline Chamfer modifier had an option to set the radius of the fillet.

Alternatively make the Fillet/Chamfer modifier a proper modifier, i.e. not destructive as it now is.

Thank you very much for your report and suggestions.
Please note that the Fillet/Chamfer modifier is no longer included in the 2025 3dsMax menu.  If you open 2025, a 3dsMax file saved before 2025, the fillet will be included in the modifier stack with its full functionality. In the future, the Spline Chamfer will be the new option for a similar task with a few extra compelling additions:

  • Users don't have to select the vertex to activate the Chamfer.
  • Depth from minus 1 to plus one.
  • Bias
  • Options to use
  • Soft Selection
  • Selection by Angle
  • Limit the vertex selection to corners only.
The additional attributes included in the Spline Chamfer are the reason why the radius in the Fillet/Chamfer tool was replaced with the amount in the Spline Chamfer.
The radius would not allow the algorithm to calculate the bias, depth and Soft Selection.
I hope you will enjoy the Spline Chamfer modifier.

But it should still be possible to add 'radius' as an option in the Spline Chamfer modifier, yes?

The code for this is trivial.
