Batch Render Crash Help Please

Max crashes when ever I try to use the batch render feature.
Im rendering through vray, does anyone know whether this is my problem, should I be using a vray specific batch renderer or should the stock max batch render work fine?

The error I recieve in the vray messenges box is as follows:

error: UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Rendering frame Last Marker is at . \src\Globillumap.cpp.BuildLightMap() {2.1}

Im using 3ds max 2010 on windows 7,
It only crashes when I render through the batch render, I have been rendering these images out one by one and at much higher settings and resolutions and they work fine.

Any help would be fantastic,

Thanks

Hi there,

I have EXACTLY the same problem with Vray, 3ds Max 2010 and Windows 7. Did you get to the bottom of it by any chance!?

Cheers,

Jamie

Hi,
I actually found that the problem is caused by adv. ray traced shadows... but only in batch render ... this must be some kind of bug ... temporary solution is to select other type of shadows like ray traced shadow...

Please reply if it helps..

I think I found the solution.

It does not crash if just before clicking render, I save the state of the scene in one of the states I saved before.

🙂

I mean try saving or restoring states and tell us if it works for you.

Is there some reason why you are using Batch Render (from the Render menu list) and not just punching in range values in the Render Setup dialog under "Common Parameters"?

A process which always works for me ...

hey guys i found the solution 🙂
the problem is caused by raytraced materials , the easiest way is to rightclick at the viewpport and convert scene to vray that will replace all the standard materials to vray and voila no problema 🙂

I just want to add that if you are using Vray you should also always use Vray Shadows...
