I need to select my Vray Camera often and tried assigning different shortcuts to "select camera" but none is working. I use 3ds max 2021 and Vray next.

Hi @sarfrazsaifi14 !

There are a few methods I use frequently. One of these is to create a name selection set for the camera.

  1. Select your camera.
  2. Create a selection set and give your VrayCamera a selection name.
  3. When you need to select your VrayCam use the selection name you created.
  4. If you want to use the camera in the active Viewport, type C with the camera selected.

I hope this TIP helps You and other 3ds max users.

@sarfrazsaifi14

Also remember that the C shortcut allows you to select a camera and assign to the active Viewport.

Right-click on the camera label to select the camera.

Thanks for tips but I am familiar with these methods already and find both little lengthy. Can't we just assign a shortcut to select camera in camera label right-click list?

Also want to add up that there is no shortcuts clash. I tried using unique/unassigned shortcut. Still didn't work. It worked well in older versions but don't know why not working in later versions.

Hi @sarfrazsaifi14 ,

I tried to reproduce the error in 3ds Max 2021, but here it has worked correctly. My Vray is 5.1 : (

You could test if the problem is related to keyboard shortcut creation as seen here:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Keyboa...

Another possibility is that 3ds Max is not correctly recognizing the Next camera class.

@robertoSorry If I was not clear in my question. This is not camera selection which you showed in last video. This is just to set cameras that we have in scenes. I want to select camera which I already set in viewport. Please check attached image.

I Got it : ) I'm going to reinstall 3ds max 2020 this weekend to see if it work or test via MaxScript. The shortcut you indicated didn't work on max 2021 or 3ds max 2022. I'll check

Hi @sarfrazsaifi14 🙂

I'm still investigating why the hotkey doesn't work, but it is possible  to select an active Vraycam work via Maxscript and assign a hotkey (or a button ou quadmenu):

The macroscript you can download here.

I hope this topic can helps you and other 3ds max users.
