Is there a trial or evaluation version of Vault available?

Vault comes with the 'suites', for example the 'Product Design Suite'.  The version of Vault is the most basic, which doesn't include release management.  Just check-in and check-out functionality.

OK, so for it to work, there needs to be a live Vault server already running?

you have to install the ADMS Console on a server

You can either install ADMS on a server, or a desktop.  Server would be best, but if you are only testing for one person a desktop will do.

Vault with the ADMS should come with any of your Autodesk suite software packages.

Hi,

I have downlaoded Autodesk Vault Professional 2012 Server and Client. I want to try this product on my computer. But While I am trying to install this it is asking for Serial NUmber and Server details and option for 30 days Trial is grayed out. Pelae suggest if this product is available for Trial or NOT. I also downlaoded Autodesk Vault Collaboration 2012 Server and Client but it is also behaving in the same way.

There is no 'trial' of Vault Professional.  If you have a 'suite' application, then the 'basic' Vault is included on there.  This version has 'check out/check in' functionality for documents.

Hi,

Autodesk does not offer a trial for Vault, to use Vault Client you have to have the Vault Server installed and setup. 

Vault Basic download has been moved to fall under the product in which it is available. Please find a quick 40-second or so video that shows where Vault Basic products can be found. AutoCAD Electrical was used in this video, but all products containing Vault Basic as a subscription benefit should be the same.

These installers were moved to your accounts portal, under the parent products this release, to facilitate a consistent delivery experience for our customers.

If you experience an issue where you still cannot find the Vault download, as shown in the video, we ask that you create a quick Autodesk Screencast, and create a support request, with the name of the product(s) you show it is missing, so we can investigate further.
