UV Editor VRED Pro 2017

Hi,

I'm trying to use VRED Pro in order to manage and apply UV Maps on some patches/parts of my object.

I'm following step by step this video tutorial from youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bLTLcND_D4 but when is the time to select and then "Sew the Islands" the software does not do anything, No Sew, or in some cases it sew only some parts and I don't know why.

I don't know if it can depend on the type of file we use for the geometries, we usually import step or iges files.

Am I following the correct "process" to manage UV? Is there a specific file who works better with UV?

Is there someone who can help me?

Thanks in advance.

Matteo

There is an issue when there are surfaces in a shell that don´t have any tessellation. In that case some strange things may happen.

Usually the surfaces can be deleted, if they don´t have any triangles it normally means they are completely trimmed away and someone forgot to cleanup the model. Sadly it is not so straight forward to figure out which surfaces are causing the issues at the moment. The best thing you can to is stepping through the surfaces in a shell one by one with the node editor open and check if it has positions and normals set.

Ok Thanks,

Can I export this model with UV applied as OBJ+ Texture maps and print with 3D printers?

I don´t know if we export texture for Obj files, sorry.

About the UV-Editor issue: If you don´t require NURBS data you can also just convert everything to Meshes, than those surfaces should be gone as well.

Kind regards

Michael

I solved my issue, I tesselate every single patch I need going below Edit-->Surfaces-->Tessellate Surface.

Now it works.

Hi,

are you using VRED Design? Surface retessellation and the UV Editor are only included in VRED Professional.

Regards

Sinje
