Visualstyle Silhouette Edges OFF

Is there a way using LISP (or some other automatic customization) to turn off the silhouette edges for specific visuals styles?

There is a system variable VISSILHEDGES which tells whether or not the silhouette edges are currently displayed, but turning them off using that variable changes the visual style rather than turning off the sil hedges in the current visual style.

Any suggestions that actually work?

Not sure if this is something that got fixed in AutoCAD 2014 onwards (I am running the student version and the Visual Styles Manager' is not working properly for me), but if you type 'VSSILHEDGES' in the command line and set the value to 0, silhouette edges will get turned off.

I thought it worked, but it doesn't.  The sys variable turns off the silhouette edges display temporarily but it does not change the actual visual style so the change does not stick.  As soon as you switch styles and switch back, they are back on.
