Steel Shapes

Trying to get the latest version of Steel Shapes by Luke Livermore. The version I have is 4.3 and I know there are later versions out there. I also have a version 5.3 which is a eval version and I can't expend the steel sizes cause it's in a FAS file. Or does anybody know how to contact Luke? Luke's site has been down for quite a long time. I do have other programs, but I like this one.

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.  I am indeed still alive.  The reason for my lack of support is that no one ever paid for any of our tools.  And despite the disclaimers that I don't support unregistered versions, taking phone calls from some unregistered user from part unknown in the middle of the night...well I suppose you can understand my frustrations.

Or the time I went to a convention in Kansas City and a salesman was demonstrating some now defunct 3rd party AutoCAD software.  When I asked him about a north arrow on his drawing, he proceed to talk my DPA routine grouping as if I wasn't me.  Maybe he too thought I was dead.  Imagine his face when I said, "Argh, ye stole me booty."  Then had to explain to him that he was using a pirated copy.

Long story short, Design Point was a money pit and someone offered us $800 for the name and we took it.

I'm very sorry to say, my brilliant partner and dear friend Chris Alm has indeed passed on.

Many people write their own codes with their precious time and effects. It is respectable when the authors only offer paid copies.

Alternatively, you can google for "steel shapes". I believe there are free versions of similar codes on the net.

One of those that I used to use is "STL.lsp" It is a nice one. It is still available on cadalyst. You can google if there is an updated version.

BTW I started to learn Autolisp from the code. Then based on the idea, I wrote my own code to suit my work.

How do we contact you to get a copy of Steelshapes 7.0? I haven't used your 4.3 product extensively, but I do keep it around for "just in case" scenarios....so I owe you money. 🙂

 Like wise I have Wisey Steel Shapes.lsp STL its open code you can even add your own shapes to a point. Credit to the authors.

Sorry for the late reply...

It should work with 2021 version.

What message did you get when loading the lisp file?

Here is only assumption.

There are 2 files with the app - LSP and DCL files.

You need to drop the files in a folder which is in your "Support File and Search Path" before it works.

Then type the command in AutoCAD command line.

Let us know if you still have any issue.

I am familiar with setting up the search path and then adding the LISP file to the AppLoad list. I have attached a screenshot of that location, as well as the two error messages that I get when running the command "STL_USA"
