setvar "select locked layer" impossible?

Hello all,
I have a drawing with multiple external references that are all locked. If I want to select something, I quickly select an xref when I create a selection window.
But also other layers that may be locked.

Wasn't there a variable that allowed you to set whether or not you could select a locked layer? So that it does not light up/appear dotted (Selection effect variable) when you select this locked layer/xref.
So you must first unlock it in your layer properties manager or with the _lyulk command if you want to select it again.

This add-on can be used for XREFs. It has options to make XREFs visible, selectable, and/or snappable. It's independent of the lock feature.

AFAIK there is no app for locked layers in general. And certainly not a built-in sysvar.

Do a Search in this Forum and/or the regular AutoCAD Forum.  This topic has come up many times.

Hello @Kent1Cooper,
Sorry, but I could find many similar questions, but without solutions. I will search the forum again.

This post may therefore be removed.

Could you perhaps take a look at my personal message that I sent you on June 10? This concerns your "AlignSnapAng.lsp" from 2013, which I have been using for years, but no longer works as it should.

Thank you for that

It generally works! If you have trouble with a partial situation(Command/Objecttype/filesettings), upload a sample .dwg with just one sample object in the right thread and tell more about the issue.
