Hello,

I'm a student architecture and recently started workig in autocad (so I don't have any experience). I have to hand in a task at tuesday and have a bit of a problem with scaling. I drew in 1:1 (I'm from Belgium, Europe so it's mm/cm/...) but my layout has to be in scale 1:50. When i set the scale in my layout to 1:50 it's tiny and I don't know how to fix that.

Does anyone know what I have to do?

I also included the file if it helps to see the problem yourself.

1st of all, I guess you are not learning AutoLISP, but AutoCAD drafting skills. Am I right?

If so, it would be better if you post your questions here next time:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-2013-2014-2015-2016/bd-p/706

Without looking your drawing, the info below is for your reference:

Generally speaking, by setting up drawing scale you need to focus on these factors

1) Test size - 2.5mm on layout as standard in my country.

2) Dimension sizes - Arrowhead size, dimension text size - again, they are to be 2.5mm, you can set up dimension scale by using the system variable "dimscale".

3) Linetype scales - 1.0 by default.

Furthermore, you may need to have a look my post in this link:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/drafting-techniques/my-text-is-too-small-how-do-i-increse-the-scale/m-...

Don't be panic with the "massive" info as you just start to learn. Just post here if you have any questions and surely AutoCAD giants in AutoCAD forum will be happy to help.

BTW by setting up layout scale, you can also follow these steps

1) Select the viewport border,

2) Type properties in the command line, then click enter key to change the viewport scale in the "properties" dialog.

A circle is the locus of a cursor, starting and ending at the same point on a plane in model space or in layout such that its distance from a given coordinates (X,Y) is always constant.

These the steps I took to get what you wanted:

1. I opened your drawing

2. Clicked on your sheet tab "grond + verdiep"

3. To setup this tab I entered command PAGESETUP

4. Clicked on Modify button

6. Since you are supposed to be printing everything at 1:1 I changed your Scale from 1:50 to 1:1 and clicked OK anc Close

7. I entered PSPACE

8. ZOOM Extents

9. I Gripped the upper right corner of the Blue border & reduced the size down to match with the actual paper sheet size

10. ZOOM Extents again

11. I Gripped the upper right hand corner of the Green Vport and increased the size up to match with the actual paper sheet size matching the Blue border

12.I entered MSPACE

13. I entered ZOOM command Center and picked a point in the middle of the plan

14. I entered 1/50xp to scale the vport to match with 1:50 scale you desired

Finally the attached zipped drawing shows that at A1 sheet size of 1:50 scale will only fit 2 of the plans you've drawn.
