Parallax Stretch?

AutoCAD 2015. Use it for architectural purposes (I believe myself
proficient, but by no means expert).



It’s just a general question.

Actually, I had something weird like this happen once, but I don’t know how
it happened and can’t recreate it.

Probably that, along with simply wondering about it brought me to ask the
question. It could apply to any object in a drawing.



Is the Layout Curve command available in ACAD 2015?



I’d rather not have to make anything a block.

Also, what if the objects are not identical (also, pre-existing in the
drawing)? Like a door, a window, and a piano (so, individual blocks – but
could be anything, I guess)?

For if this was an AutoCAD command:

 I have a custom command that does that but I keep such things to myself as competitive advantages. In any case, if you're not using AutoCAD Architecture, this newsgroup isn't really the right forum.  I would suggest one of the AutoCAD customization forums. Only AutoCAD Architecture has layout curves but AutoCAD has dimensional contraints.  It doesn't sound like you want to invest any time in setup though, which dimensional contraints do require.

constraints require that you combine all of your objects into one dynamic
block?

No, dimensional constraints don't have to be wrapped into a block.  Each group of objects would probably need to be a block or a group though.  Groups require no overhead to create though.  For what you seem to want to do, I normally use associative arrays but that only works if all the object groups are identical.

My stretchn command is used where there is a true need to stretch, not just move n times, spreading the displacement between the parts.

An alternate parallax sounds like something I've heard of from some television show about alien ancestors, or maybe Area 51, or maybe The Twilight Zone or The X Files.  I just don't know what a parallax is.  Plus I like to pester Doug.  He is such a good sport.  I think people tend to tease those whom they consider superior.

I didn't know either until I was trying to find a way to describe what I was seeing in my head. I googled things like "what is it called when you're driving and closer things are moving faster than things far away".

So, anyway... I'm not an ACAD genius or anything. I'm still a bit confused; but maybe this is just a pipe dream.

Hello. I tried applying dimensional constraints to no avail. I'm probably not doing it right.

Is there a trick I'm not utilizing?
