Make block array across a selected area

It is kind of hard to explain what I am wanting to do. Let me try to explain this.

I want to be able to pick 2 blocks that and array them at 71" in the area I chose. Basically after I pick them I want them to array in both directions if I make a rectangle.

Step 1: Pick the blocks

step 1.jpg

Step 2: Pick area

Step 3: Array 71" in both directions

step 3.jpg

step 4: insert  another block at original start point

step 4.jpg

step 5: prompt for spacing of new block and array in the same area

step 5.jpg

@Ajohnson0 ,

Have you tried experimenting with the ARRAYRECT command?

If that does not work for you, can you give detail as to why?

I think knowing these 2 things can help us get you on the right track.

Best,

~DD

I have used arrayerect I was just looking for something that didn't need me to insert put in the 71" spacing everytime (as it never changes) and the only thing that changes is the spacing of the last block inserted.

This video shows what I am trying to achieve but it is just 2 groups that I am stretching at the same time

A dwg is required not image.

I am playing with similar task and it soon become obvious that there is not one quick answer but rather looking at a series of joining boundary, in my case the joining edge must have only 1 row of supports.

Your image shows the same problem.
