Is it possible to create new unique colour names?

Hi.

I was just wondering if it would be possible to create a unique set of colours, and give them names that would show up in the colour control menu, similar to the existing, Blue, Red, Green etc? So for instance i wanted to hatch something like a footway in a specific RGB code, i could save that as 'Footway' and so on. something that i could use in across all my drawings without the need to allocate the RGB codes every time. Thanks in advance.

CAD beginner, or ?

Beginner:

Create a LAYER with that RGB color and if you like to draw a footway, usw the Layer "footway",

objectcolor should be "ByLayer"

Expert:

Yes you can create your own "colors", but i would never prefer to this.

And you can not edit the Color drop-down menu, you have to create your

own menu to set/change colors.

How to?

Create your own ColorBook to assign special rgb codes to  a (color)name.

More questions about this?

Only like some RGB-colors in the drop down menu?

USE the color one time in your program session, you will see these colors in the drop down menu then.

Thank you Betreff. Im not a CAD beginner, but i'm certainly no expert. The reason i hadn't assigned the colour by layer, is that at times they are likely to be assigned to alternative layers. I will look into creating a custom palette in the colour book, i think this may be my best option, i just never really knew it existed if i'm honest.

Thank you Re. ( 😁 )

Whatever you like, buti  do not support it and it brings you no real benefit.

I think user defined "extra Button"  a lot more helpful, or working with the toolpalette.

I fully appreciate your advice, but i don't understand what you mean by "Extra button, or working with Tool palette". However, looking at the colour book layout, if i could replicate that with my own names and RGB codes, this would be ideal for my needs. (See attachment)

Thanks

"Extra Button" means

such things with MenuMacro sequences, For example in side the Ribbon:

Toolpalette is this feature:

ColorBook

Again, i think just "Experts" should use custom color-books, but you asked for, so let's take a look.

STOP!

We are not talking about AutoCAD? but MEP3D or CIVIL3D, or ACA?

then it is one more reason to not go this way.

And for others? And in the feature? I am not 100% sure

Test it with a small project side by side "as text", especially if there is data exchange with other companies!
Test also the printing of the plans etc.,

I can not explain everything to you in a few sentences, but it's not my job.
