How to add Geometric Center Osnap Temporary Override Key.

I believe the Geometric Center object snap is new to AutoCAD 2016.  I think it's a useful addition as I often like to place text in the center of a rectangular polyline etc.

I also use temporary right click menu osnap overrides often for object snaps that I don't keep running all the time.  I use osmode 4199 in case anyone cares.  Consequently, I have learned the shortcut keys in this menu for osnaps that I often use "G" for tangent "N" for none etc. (full list below).  However, I couldn't figure out which key to hit in 2016 to run the Geometric Center snap.  That's because by default there is none.  Below is a list of keys that you can use to select items in the Object Snap Cursor Menu:

F - From
T - Mid Between 2 points
N - Endpoint
M - midpoint
I - intersection
A - apparent intersection
X - extension
C - center
  - Geometric center
Q - quadrant
G - tangent
P - perpendicular
L - parallel

D - node
S - insert
R - nearest
N - none
O - osnap settings

You may guess that you can spell out you can spell out "Geometric Center" using letters which are already assigned to shortcut keys.  You'd be right, I verified this.  So, the fix...

Type CUI to open the Custom User Interface dialog.  (see attached image).  Select the "Main Customization File" from the pulldown and find "Shortcut Menus>Object Snap Cursor Menu"  Inside you will find "Geometric Center", click on it.  Now you have these letters leftover to choose from (at least I did)

I selected 'V' because it's easy to hit.  Now just rename the menu command with the letter you chose.  e.g. I used "Geometric Center &V" (again see attached image) and include the "&" symbol before your letter.  Hit OK to save changes to yoru CUI and the next time you use the right-click osnap override menu you should be able to hit your letter to use the Geometric Center snap.

I hope this is helpful to someone and that I am not breaking some sort of ettiquette by not actually asking a question.

Sure you can. In the CUI editor under the "Main" customization file, duplicate one of the other osnap override keys by right-clicking (See attached images), rename the new shortcut key command and put 1024 in place of the original osmode number.  Assign a shortcut key that isn't already used and you should be good to go.
