Dimension showing width?

Is there any way to have a dimension line/leader lines show a width and have the length of one leader be stretchable?  The attached image shows what I am looking for.  The first point needs to attached to nearest and the second perpendicular to the second line.  I need to be able to pull the length of one side which varies depending on placement.

What I am doing now is using a dimension line, exploding it, then extending one line and adding a 'leader' perpendicular to the extended line.  The width, extended line and the leader line vary in length depending on the space I have to work with.  Then I add an mtext to the end of the and align that mtext with the leader.  So is there a lisp routine that could possibly do this?  I could create a dynamic block but that would have a lot of moving parts with flips and stretches, but maybe that is what I have to do.  Looking for something quicker than that.

Can't you do that with simple grip-editing?  The right one here is just a Dimension -- no Exploding, no separate Leader, no separate Mtext, etc.

Just make sure the Dimension Style settings are appropriate -- here in the DimStyle Modify dialog box's Fit category:

Ok, that helps a little bit for sure, but doesn't quite have the flexibility I am looking for.  I have 4 different scenarios that could easily happen again depending on room on the plan.  Because I need that flexibility, I was thinking a dynamic block, but that would have a lot of moving parts with stretching, inserting perpendicular and flipping.  Was wondering if a lisp routine could remove all those moving parts?

I have attached a very crude dynamic block which has all the moving parts.  Any suggestions on how the simplify it are more than welcome.

Regular Dimensions should be able to cover all those situations.  I did the one in this image to prove to myself that color overrides can  be applied within Dimension text content, so your other-color parts could be incorporated.  BUT I haven't found the setting that controls whether [in this vertical-dimension-line situation] the text goes to the left or right of the dimension line & arrows.  Grip-dragging with the text grip to the right only moves everything [other than the definition points], including  the dimension line.  If I take it to above  the red Lines, it goes to the right, but I can't get it to be on the left  side when above.  I don't see any obvious setting or variable, but there must be a way -- does anyone know where that is controlled?
