Diesel expression to get part of an attribute value

Hi, I'm trying to create a diesel expression that can extract part of a custom sheet set attribute.

Basically, I use sheet sets to populate the title-blocks with the common data.

All very standard, nothing frightening so far.

One of those attributes is the Project number.

What I want to do is insert a piece of text from a tool palette, that contains a diesel expression that extracts the last 6 characters of the project number (it's usually 12 characters long, but not always).

What we have is a note that says "All samples are prefixed with the *insert last part of project number*, not shown to save space in the drawing."

I've done it before with a file name/path, but not an attribute like this.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
