Watermarks not just for Items

Watermarks not just for Items

We have for some time struggled with mitigating the miss use and security of a files whilst still allowing the end user the flexibility to edit/change or access the file. We have implemented many different strategies to accommodate, but all have been rejected or unsustainable. The best and simplest option would to be able to place a watermark on files at lifecycle state changes; can we have Watermarking function not only for Items. A watermark will deter the user from sending a file out if it has a watermark across it.

Thank you for posting the Idea. However, you can place the State (Historical) property value in a file property today. Have you tried this?

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
No, I have not tried your suggestion, are you about to elaborate further?
Thanks,
Ken

Simply map the State (Historical) property to a file property.

When the file is modified, the local file's property will be in the current state of a custom property.

When you transition the file to a different state, make sure it is set to synchronize the properties using the Job Processor.
