View Document Properties at ITEM

Users need an up-to-date view of the properties and states of documents when they have an article open.
This means that if user 1 has opened an article and the document has been checked out by user 2, then user 1 cannot recognize the article. Updating the article doesn't help.
The "Checked out by" column, which can be inserted in the documents area, remains empty despite the update. So why is this column available at all?
User 1 can only see from the "last version" column that despite the article being updated, there is no current version of the document in the article. User 1 has to switch to the document area to check why the document on the article cannot be updated.
Users complain about intuitive operation and a click marathon within Vault and wish for an improvement.
It would be helpful if at least checked-out documents are displayed in bold as in the document area (see image)
