Vault Thin Client - admin configuration of views and properties

Vault Thin Client - admin configuration of views and properties

I would like to be able to log-in to the Thin Client as Administrator, select "configure view" in a Settings button for a file, and be able to turn on/off via check boxes what will be visible to the users, from Tabs to individual properties - in a similar vein to Configure Columns. We have been using Vault for many years now - since early days - and have changed how we use it over time and many of the properties are no longer relevant; I don't particularly want to edit and remove the mapping for each property, but simply turn off their display in Thin Client in the least complicated or compromising manner.

Please see attachment image mock-up of what I had in mind.

Thanks.

Thank you for posting the Idea. Just so I am clear, you are asking for custom views per file?

Thanks for follow-up. Not per individual file, but setting up custom views for Files and the Thin Client interface in general.

So, you are asking for custom views for the File tabs (Properties, History, Uses, Where Used, Item, Change Order), correct?

Correct. Ideally I would like to tailor the views to what I want the user to see. My department has probably an untypical Vault usage, wherein our files are mainly AutoCAD, Revit and pdf (whereas another company department here mainly use for Inventor and use it very differently). We no longer utilise or need Items nor many of the Properties, and some of the User Properties I set up 14/15 years ago or so are also no longer used, so I would love to be able to turn those off and present only what is relevant to the general user; a lot of the file tabs are of no interest either. I would hope it's not massively complicated, and similar to how one can tailor what is presented in column headers. Thanks.

Voted.

I was going to make a similar suggestion. The new changes to hide the File, Item, ECO is a start, it would be really good if we could customize what is shown based on user groups as a change that suits one user is likely not relevant to everyone.

Most have a "Viewer" group that are setup to only see certain things in Vault. These users often do not need to see 80% of the information present when using the Thin Client. Most would only need to see the visualization file.

It would be amazing if the user group settings controlled the Thin Client options.
