Vault: Profile attributes (Profilattribute) mapping to File UDP

Vault: Profile attributes (Profilattribute) mapping to File UDP

Hello Vault professionals,

Autodesk offers a new possibility to create/import profile attributes. It is also possible to create new customized profile attributes for Users/Groups in Vault global settings.

New Idea:

It would be great to have the possibility to map a profile attribute to a file/document property (UDP).

Example:

During a domain user group import or a Vault-user-definition administrators fill the example property "PLANT" with a value for a site/location of the company.

When creating a new file or copy a file the value of "PLANT" (Profile Attribute) should be mapped to the document/file attribute "PLANT" . A mapping definition should be possible like in the property mapping definition between Vault and Inventor IProperties.

      Profile Attribute PLANT = GERMAN

      File Attribute PLANT = GERMANY

At the moment the only possibility is to set a value in the Inventor templates or to use customizations (API)

Thanks and best regards!
Dominik

Thanks for posting the idea. What happens if a user from a different company edits the file last? The Plant could change from Germany to UK. Why is where the part made based on the user and not the project?

Hi Irvin,

thanks for your answer.

In this special case the Vault-permissions do not allow a edit of files from other plants. The "Plant" property is only an example...it woult be nice to  map also other user informations to a document property.

You are right it would be possible to set the plant property on the folder and map it to the files which are checked into this folders with an addon, but not in every case the folders above the files can contain the plant value if the direvtories are not splitted.

To the idea in general:

Is it possible to use profile properties out of the user management or are they only available for filters in the vault security?

I know it is not so easy to obtain such a "2-dimensional" value, because user/group informations are stored in the KVM...

Thanks!

Best regards

Dominik
