Urgently needed - Vault 2016 add in for SolidWorks 2016

Urgently needed - Vault 2016 add in for SolidWorks 2016

We have previously been using Solidworks 2014 with our Vault 2016.

We’re upgrading to Solidworks 2016.

I need an update of the add in for Vault 2016 that supports Solidworks 2016.

The current version we are using only supports up to Solidworks 2015.

I found a version of the add in that supports Solidworks 2016 but it is for Vault 2017, not Vault 2016.

We have a highly customized and configured implementation of Vault and upgrading to Vault 2017 is not an option at this time.

Supports up to Solidworks 2015 and Vault 2016: https://apps.autodesk.com/VLTC/en/Detail/Index?id=3015873131706860824&appLang=en&os=Win64

Supports Solidworks 2016 but only Vault 2017: https://apps.autodesk.com/VLTC/en/Detail/Index?id=218899774285238218&appLang=en&os=Win64

I realize Solidworks 2016 had not been released yet when Vault 2016 came out, so the add in couldn't have been made to support it. However, as Solidworks 2016 has been out for over a year now, it would be very useful if this add in could be updated.

I tried editing the MSI in Orca to see if I could simply get rid of the prerequisites but it didn't have any success.

Since the Vault 2016 add in supported Solidworks 2013, 2014, and 2015, I suspect it would work just fine with Solidworks 2016, if only the installer would let it do its thing.

Please update this add in, if possible.

Thank you!

Sorry, but we do not have any plans to change the supported add-ins for Vault 2016.

Thanks for the quick reply, Irvin.

That's pretty much what I expected. Too bad.

FYI, for anyone who is interested:

I just determined that the Solidworks add in for Vault 2016 DOES, in fact, work just fine with Solidworks 2016, even though it isn't officially supported and the MSI will not install if it doesn't find Solidworks 2013, 2014, or 2015 on your system.

However, if you previously had any of those versions on your system, install the add in, then install Solidworks 2016, 2016 will see the add in automatically and it works just fine.

I've tested logging in and out of Vault, opening a Solidworks file from Vault, checking out and checking in, all from the Vault ribbon that magically appeared when I fired up Solidworks 2016.

Everything appears to be working just like it did when we were using it with Solidworks 2014.
