Select Revision Scheme during Item Creation

Currently there is no method to assign the revision scheme duing item creation, including when assigning items to files.

We use two revision schemes... our default is numeric based starting at 0. We use "0" as the released to production revision. Our proposal scheme uses letters and starts at A. The way it is now I create a new item, which is assigned a revision of 0. I save the item and then adjust it to A. This consumes the 0 which cannot be used again. What I'd like to see is the option to select the revision scheme while both creating the item from the item master AND duing item assignment when assigning items to files

What would be really nice would be to be able to create more complex revision schemes.

The thing you are describing is really one scheme.

If Lifecycle < Released, Start with revision="A", increment alphabetical

If Lifecycle >= Released, Start with revision="0", increment integers

That's actually a pretty common scheme from what I've seen.

If you try to release items into an ERP during the proposal stage, you would probably run into issues because they generally enforce any new revision must be numerically higher than the one that preceded it, but you probably shouldn't be putting unreleased things into ERP anyway.
