Rename Function directly from the app

It would be very helpful to be able to rename a file uploaded directly from Vault. Maybe not using numbering schemes but it would be a great start to be able to rename it freely.

Would it be possible to implement the function of renaming files directly from the Inventor Vault browser?

This would simultaneously update the vault & local files and update the vault references.  Greatly improving the slow process of checkin, rename from vault browser, checkout, delete old local copy.

It would seem that most of the functionality already exists at the Inventor level:

-copy design

-automatic naming

The functionality I have suggested is for a vault/inventor browser feature. 

Is this not the correct forum for this idea?

Inventor would have to support the ability to rename a currently opened file. Once they have that ability, it would be possible for Vault to feed in the numbering scheme.

OK now understood, but why archive the idea? 

Is it not a valid idea even if there is a dependency in another application?
