Possibility for administrator to assign / reserve files to user

Hello.

It would be great to have a possibility for administrator to assign / reserve files to user.

Currently administrator can take the files from the user (remove reservation), but it would be also great to have an option to assign the files to users.

Best regards,

Rene Repina

Thank you for posting the idea. Why not set the security on the files so that the owner user is the only one with write permissions?

You are welcome.

We have an Engineering department and sometimes users forget some files and leave them somewhere in Vault, other times we have somebody having them checked-out, so I would remove that and assign them to other, so they have them prepared. It is more like to assign the "open" files, so users know about them, because sometimes they forget about them and leave them somewhere.

The "Remove Reservation" is just an administrative level "undo checkout".

Vault doesn't have a reservation model, so are you willing to perform a "check out to" type command?

Correct.

I know, that why we are discussing this. Yes, of course.

I will give you an example. We had about 2000 files, which were not checked-out to anybody, but should be. We notified 35 users to do it, but they still did not (whatever the reason). So I as administrator have an overview to who should those files be reserved and I would gladly reserve to them, so I have a clean Vault without any "open" which float somewhere in the Vault. Also good for "digital tidiness".
