PDF publishing for Item

Please add the PDF publishing options to Items as well. We manage our designs by Items. Files never undergo a state change so they can never trigger a PDF publishing job. Allow published Item PDF's to be linked to the item, linked as an attachment to the item or linked as an attachment to the file. Not sure yet what I would prefer.

I am also looking for a way to publish pdf based on item release process. We work with items and now it seems we cannot use the automated pdf publishing because it only works if the lifecyle transition is based on files not items.

Yes!!

We have the same problem, so we had to put a workflow onto the files just for publishing purposes.

Aside from the hassle,  we now have the problem that the pdf can be published before the item is released.

(first set the file to release-state so pdf is published, then update item to get latest file, then release item. If you forget/postpone the last action, you'll have an illegal publish).

I think we need to add also the votes of this request:

At the end is needed an action on the state-change to RELEASED to create a visulaization file (DWF or PDF) of the ITEM and its childs, and update properties.

Example: If we automate with iLogic, every new design needs to be propoted to ITEM, to diferentiate it from the other designs/products. And actually if the ITEM is released, nothing is updated automatically.
