New Thin Client: Default Columns

New Thin Client: Default Columns

The the previous iteration of the Vault thin client, the administrator could set the default columns that were visible. This doesn't seem like an option in the new thin client. This would be helpful for our user base if this was configurable to hide the columns that aren't important and show the columns that are as a starting point.

Warum wurde diese Funktion deaktiviert?

Column selection is an essential part of working effectively.

Saved header states in the thin client also appear to be saved to the local browser session and not in the Vault user account.

I tested this by making a generic read only account in vault and setting the column headers as desired.  Using the same account, logged in on another browser from another machine and none of the saved column settings were there.

This might seem a trivial part of the interface, but Vault admins need to be able to set a default view for thin client users.

In previous 2020 version of the thin client, as an admin, we could set the default header configuration for folders and search results for all users.  In the 2022 release, it appears this feature does not exist.  This is important because the header configuration appears to only be saved to the local browser of the logged in user.  If the same user logs in from a different computer or web browser, the column headers must be reconfigured.

Very disappointed in this feature

Autodesk, please think about the persona. The Vault ThinClient user is (most of the time) someone who don't really understand the properties (UDP, systems) and what to show. It's for this reason Autodesk probably remove the abilities to perfom advanced search in ThinClient.

Then, if we follow this logic: The ThinClient user is not aware of wich columns he must add in the interface.

It's why this idea must be accepted as quicker as possible. Actually, the only solution is to inform all ThinClient users to add this or this columns. A nightmare for administrators who manage hundreds of ThinClient endusers.

Please "fix" it quickly.

I totally agree with xavier.dumont.

This should be possible again as soon as possible!

Le funzioni buone DEVONO essere mantenute!!! Autodesk, in questo senso, sembra mettere sempre i bastoni tra le ruote e, invece di migliorare, continua ad obbligare gli utenti a fare più lavoro!

è inaccettabile!!!

Good functions MUST be maintained !!! Autodesk, in this sense, always seems to put a spoke in the wheel and, instead of improving, continues to force users to do more work! it is unacceptable !!!

This is fairly important to us, we have been driving away from smart file names so only displaying the file name makes it difficult on the users to find what they are looking for.  Granted they can configure the view themselves however having the ability to set a default view was a huge plus and losing the ability was a huge loss.

Please allow default property configuration, as it worked in previous releases.

We use the web client so we don't have to train people to use full Vault Explorer, they shouldn't have to customize their views. This is a tool for non-CAD (often non-computer savvy) users, it should be VERY simple to use and configurable globally by the administrator.

This aside, great work on many of the other additions.

The new Thin Client Interface is great, but inability to control default views is a huge oversight.

This was an important capability in previous releases. All of our important information is held in custom properties and our users expect their views to be pre-configured. Yes, it is easy to modify per user but I have over 100 users using the thin client, teaching each user how to make the same customizations themselves is not productive.

This needs an admin control for default properties. Thank you for the other great additions!

Autodesk must see the crucial value in every local administrator's responsibility for change management as a win-win-win. Regardless of the level of user expertise, Autodesk leaders should want to see users get up to speed as efficiently as possible. Being able to preset default view settings are a foundational component of that. It's a win for Autodesk's users to get back to work quickly, it's a win for the administrator - to move forward with "the next project" rather than creating update-specific training docs and hand-holding across dozens (or hundreds) of users. It's a triple win for Autodesk when the users have a seamless experience, the admins have great things to say about how the process went, and the corporate leaders are applauding Autodesk updates instead of asking why we haven't moved to a more <choose your buzzword adjective for "agile & user change friendly"> platform yet.

Sadly the new thin client is made to a real thin client.
Looks like as autodesk made drastic cuts without exception to bring it into a new design.
Design before function...

How is it possible that such a vital function has been disabled?
How can I explain to about 150 users that for example the Description field is = our internal article number?
Please put this function back

The thin client can no longer be used productively in the company with the cutbacks.
The omission of essential functions makes it a step backwards overall. It's a pity, because the new viewer is well implemented.

A revision is urgently needed!

I really don't understand why you would remove any functions from previous versions of software without acceptable replacement.  Please bring this function back immediately. This piece is critical when the UI/navigation is already terrible and overwhelming for the less than average user.  It allows us to provide the most important information from a global standpoint rather than leaving each user to their own. Yes the granularity is nice, but not needed for your average user. You can always add additional columns as needed as as user but you should be presented with a controllable default.

Autodesk, you are ridiculous!!! It is not acceptable that you remove this function! Who is the genius that approved this!

Please, bring this function back immediately
