At the moment you can create different Model States in one CAD-file. As soon as the file is released in Vault, no modifications are possible. Except with Admin rights, but this is not for engineering. We have a customer now; they always make a copy from the Assembly. Then, they make changes on the design, like remove constrains. With that , a part can be placed on an other place in the assembly. Then they can make a picture for their documentation. The copy from the assembly has no link to the original assembly. This way to work is time consuming (check, if all parts are latest) and causes failure because the quality depends on the person who makes changes.
It would be helpful, if you can create a Model stets especially for Technical Documentation. As soon as the design is finishes and released, the main design is locked and can’t be changed. If you have now a special Model states, from the design, the Team Technical Documentation can now remove constrains in the assembly and place the parts as they want and can make pictures what they need. Main design is not affected, and no change process is needed. Furthermore, less parts in Vault, because no duplicates are created, with no value. The results are more robust and the quality would be better.
