Make Custom Objects more like Items

Custom objects are pretty cool, but why not make them have the same functionality as items?? Functionality to add is:

1. Be able to assign a file to a custom object like you'd assign to an item
2. Have the same export options available for custom objects as items
   1. right now it just spits everything out; I want to be able to select what fields and in what order to export out of the custom objects
3. Have custom objects show up with the same 'report card' view that the items have
4. Be able to assign a custom object to an item in the 'Bill of Materials' tab of an item
5. Right click on custom objects give an option at add an attachment
6. Right click on custom objects give an option at add to a change order

Essentially, the custom objects are right now 'neat', but if they could serve as a second group of items (outside of just assigning items a category type to items) then they would be even more useful.
