Filter on folders in Home tree

Filter on folders in Home tree

Able to set a separate filter on the home tree containing all the folders.

We use the folders as project folders and added some states to these foldes. At the moment our home tree contains over 1800 folders.
Most of these folders have the state "Closed", meaning the project is finished.

It would be very useful for us if we could filter this tree so that only the ‘Work in progress’ folders are visible. Resulting in a tree with only active projects.

Thank you for posting the idea. In the meantime, have you tried creating folder shortcuts so that you can access the folders you want directly?

@ihayesjr,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the concept of the short cuts is known to us, thats no problem. This is what we use now.

Have you considered creating a Saved Search? We have a customer who does this to display their active projects.

In your case you would need to set:

  • Look for = Folders
  • Look in = $/Documents/Projects
  • Criteria = State Contains Work In Progress

If you save it as a Distributed Search, everyone can access it.

To access the folder from the search, right-click and choose Go To Folder

Hope that helps

@Nick_Hall thank you for your reply.

We are familiar with the various ways of filtering in Vault. However, it does not shorten the project tree. More than 1800 folders remain visible, which does not change.

If I create a filter as suggested, we get 38396 results, as underlying folders can still have WIP status.

Our project structure is as follows:

A filter, specifically on the navigation pane, shortens the tree. This makes it easier to switch between the various active projects.
