Copy Design - disabling files when copying

Hello,

My suggestion is to add a mechanism that allows you to automatically exclude files that have a specific property from copying. For example, I want files that have the Title = purchasing field not to be copied. Writing rules in the Copy Design module that replace properties, or delete their values, does not apply.

greetings

Thank you for posting the idea. Copy Design would never "exclude" that child part as it is needed by the parent assembly. Are you asking that Copy Design not allow the child to be Copied but forced to be Reused?

Yes, the idea concerns the possibility of indicating on the basis of a specific property if the subfile is to be copied or re-used. As is the case with library parts.

Now, 6 years later, this is still a badly missed Feature in Copy Design in almost all Vault Projects.

We now can force the reuse of Content Center Files (Libraries), but (almost) all Customers do have some kind of Normal Parts which should behave like Content Center Files. There are many names for these parts like "Purchase Parts", "Company Library", "Catalog goods". However, there are maybe as much ways to identify these parts as Vault using Companies. Some put it in an own category, others have a specific UDP for that Pupose or a defined number range in Filename, Partnumber or UDP like Document-Itemnumber.

A New Function like shown here is urgently needed:

(An other frequent wish in Copy Design is, that customer want parts to follow their original numbering sceme on copying without any need to select any sceme)
