Check Synchronicity between Item and Document

Check Synchronicity between Item and Document

During lifecycle transitions I can check whether an item is linked to the most current version of a document. What is missing, though, is a check for the mapped properties. So here is the idea:

When pushing an item to the next status I would like to check if the mapped properties between item and the linked documents are in sync. (It could be that this check needs to be restricted to the primary document and probably linked drawings as well.)

When pushing a document, I would like to check if the mapped properties between document and a linked item are in sync.

@RajSchmidt

That you for posting the idea. However, this is already possible. In the transition criteria, you have to enable the Property Compliance check.

Hello Irvin, thank you for the comment. Unfortunately, that is not what I am looking for.

For items, this criterion will look for required values, etc. For documents it will additionally look for a sync between a file and its data set.

What I need is a check for the sync between the data fields of an item and the corresponding, i.e., mapped fields of the document.

My colleagues have discussed this already with Autodesk support (cases 20551900 and 19661160). From there we got the confirmation that what we are looking for is not possible right now. And the friendly nudge towards the Idea Station. 😉

@RajSchmidt

Thank you for the case numbers. Now I understand the idea. This idea is for item to file equivalence checks which do not happen at this level.

Hello @ihayesjr , the general issue is, that you can't grab an outstanding synchronization between Item and linked documents - neither with a visual symbol for the users before state change (like property compliance symbol) nor as a restriction before a state change.

So with the forced "write back property" on items settings, you can't force item property values to the linked documents.
