When you use the ANYCAD module within INVENTOR and create a link to a STEP file, you are able to catch the properties included in it. You are able to map the STEP properties to INVENTOR files properties. However, when you check the STEP file in the database, you lose all these information. Hence if you want to manage the BOMs or search all documents in VAULT, you are unable to find these documents.
Moreover, I don't want to use any derived part because this will generate a unwanted BOM level.
