I have performed bulk loading of files into vault for some time now. I would like to see the Autoloader utility and the "Check In Folder" function in AutoCAD better handle files already in the vault. In some cases, we may need to bulk load several hundreds of thousands of files. Trying to load them all at one time becomes challenging on resources. Considering the option of doing partial loads of sets of folders, we run into a problem when referenced files are already in the vault. I believe Autoloader handles Inventor files properly in this case, but AutoCAD files are not processed if their references are already in the vault. The same is true of the "Check in Folder" command in AutoCAD. I am aware that the "Check in Folder" does properly load files when the referenced files reside in a vault library folder, but this is rarely the case. Generally speaking, we find multiple references between many folders, such that any partial load of one folder will then cause subsequently loaded folders to leave out many files.
If these tools had an appreciation of the files already in the vault and would bulk load the 'parent' files so that their references point to the previously vaulted files, I believe the bulk loading tools could be used much more effectively on larger data migration projects.
Thank you,
