AutoCAD to Vault mapping not type safe

Hello all,

with every Vault update we suffer from AutoCAD -> Vault mapping problems related to our locale settings (decimal separator, date fields).

Root cause is that AutoCAD does not support datatypes different than TEXT. Autodesk's proposal is not to map AutoCAD properties or attributes against numerical or date properties in Vault.

This is a fact that cannot be accepted because

• we than would need different vault properties for Inventor and AutoCAD for the same information (e.g. CreateDate_Inventor (Date) + CreateDate_AutoCAD (Text))
• loss of all enhancement resulting in the use of datatype (search for "Last 7 days", 100 < Value < 200).

Instead Autodesk should take care that AutoCAD finally understands datatypes (it's 2015, not 1995).

Maybe that idea belongs in the AutoCAD forum, but if you do not use Vault, you do not suffer, I guess.
