I think access with Vault Thin Client via Vault Gateway is a good way to give your company's service users current access to viewing data without using a VPN or a full-fledged Vault Client.
Is it possible to run the Vault Mobile app on a Windows 10 notebook?
I think - no. Above all, service users need access to viewing data. That's not very convenient on a smartphone. Viewing on an additional tablet would be possible, but it would also be difficult to use.
@ihayesjr can you please give some indications on how Vault mobile can be used with gateway.
I am trying to connect in this way but I recieve the message "Fail to connect to Vault server". I have both "Use secure connection" and "Sign in with read only acces" options ON.
I was never able to get the mobile app to connect (android). My vault gateway works but the mobile app doesnt connect. Also I will agree with what has been recently said. If we need a 3rd party to view vault data it feels dumb to say "Here's access but you can only view it on your tiny phone"
Okay, so Vault in the Cloud using Gateway, this allows remote users (engineers and Designers) to bypass VPN... But removes the ability to use Thin Client. Thin Client is used by our shop workers/purchasing when they need to look up a part/drawing and saves us from purchasing additional Vault licenses. What is the expected method for the shop users access said content if the company wants to go towards Vault Gateway?
After giving this some more thought. I understand Autodesk doesn't really want to open gateway up for thin client users citing security issues. What about a read only vault client similar to what you (Autodesk) guys did with Inventor Read-only? A trimmed down vault client which is able to connect to the gateway and has read only access to vault data?
The purpose of Vault Thin Client is to share data with users who do not have a license. However, it is unfortunate that the Gateway cannot be utilized. It would be great if this aspect could be improved.😢
