Ability to read .dwf metadata in Vault

Ability to read .dwf metadata in Vault

We are requesting the ability to read metadata from .dwf files in Vault. For example, reading all the "Sheet Properties" that exist in .dwf files (see attached files). This functionality already exists for metadata from .rvt, .dwg and other files that are in Vault.

We also would like the ability to map the .dwf metadata in either direction between Vault and .dwf, just like the current ability between Vault and .rvt /.dwg files.

Thank you for posting the idea.

The DWF file is created as a visualization file from the DWG or RVT file. Users do not see the DWF file in Vault when it is created during check or by the Job Processor because the DWF file is hidden.

Since the metadata can already be mapped and viewed in Vault from the parent DWG or RVT file, why is it important to get the metadata from the DWF file?

Can you help me understand what problem are you trying to solve with this idea?

What workflow does this idea help with?

Currently in Vault we release DWG files as individual drawing sheets. For example, every sheet of a project is a sheet 1 of 1, this way we have configuration management of each drawing sheet as a standalone DWG file. As we are switching to Revit the only way we see to keep the same configuration management is to put the sheets in to Vault as DWF files or PDF.  The ability to get metadata from DWF and PDF files will save hours of manual entry of sheet data per project.  We are 100% open to Ideas and help in our transition to Revit and the way Revit files interact with Vault. Feel free to contact me for more info or clarity.
