Currently, Autodesk Vault allows users to link files to Custom Objects, but these links always point to the latest version of the file. This limitation creates challenges in scenarios where it is necessary to track specific versions of files over time.
I propose adding the capability to link a specific file version to a Custom Object, rather than always defaulting to the latest version. This would bring significant value in the following use cases:
- Transmittals & Submittals: Ensuring that external/internal stakeholders receive and reference the correct version of a file at a given point in time.
- Internal RFIs & Design Collaboration: Providing a clear reference for discussions and reviews, ensuring that decisions are based on the correct document version.
- Audit & Compliance: Maintaining an accurate historical record of what information was shared or reviewed at specific moments, aligning with ISO standards for quality and data integrity.
