Ability to attach PDF files on Item creation

Currently there is no functionality present I can find to automatically attach a PDF file at Item Master record correction.  This is time consuming to add each PDF file manually.  This should automatically add PDF files when an Item is created if it has the same file name/part number.

Are you asking to attach a PDF to an already existing Item?

No on item creation from Project Explorer.  

When you right click and select "Assign/Update Item" it would be helpful if it attached any PDF or DWF file with the same number.

So if you select a single PDF, right-click and select Assign Item, you want it to find other files with the same part number and automatically assign those files to the same Item?

No if I select a single IPT, IAM, DWG, IDW and select Assign it should attach any PDFs with the same name at that time.  Currently it does not.

It will be great complement to a new PDF attachment function.

It should be an additional option in Assign Item administration panel if Vault will attach to the Item a files attached to the files included in link creations.

They have finally accepted that the world uses PDF and in Vault 2018 I'm pretty sure I read that along with PDF creation it can automatically link/attach the pdf to the IDW and match revisions.

I would like to add that if the PDF does not already exist it should be generated and attached to the Item.

I have many clients that are using Item based work flows and because of this they cannot take advantage of the new PDF creation functionality in Vault as it relies on a change to the file level lifecycle.

I would also like the PDF's created by the Job Processor to be added to the Item upon creation. At the moment our engineers have to manualy add the files in the approved stage when the finish their files.

Vault 2021 with system generated PDF's should be doing this by default. This needs to happen.

Would saying please help get this to be a thing? Maybe even if its to add files (the published pdf) that are attached to the associated files.

Have you had a chance to review the feature request regarding automatic attachment uploads? Is there any update on this topic?

It seems clear that there is a strong demand for a functionality that allows users to automatically link all relevant documentation (PDFs, STEP files, DXF files) to the corresponding items created from parts or assemblies.

@ihayesjr Is there an update to this? I'm looking for the same thing, any PDF attached to a .dwg file can be attached to the item as well during creation.

I would like to add my support to this request.
It is listed in the Item LCS definition under the Transition.
I know it says "update" and not "Create" - but providing a file format selector with PDF is almost like teasing!
