Vault Prof. 2024 - Search (based on property) and delete local files

Hello,

We use Vault Professional 2024 and would like to search for certain files in our Vault based on a property and then delete all local files on the C:. I still want to keep all local files without this certain property. Is it possible to do this in any way?

Best regards

Hello, if you do a search based on this property, you should get a list of all files in the Vault that meet the search criteria.  From that list you should then be able to right click and select Go to Working Folder, and then delete the local file from there.  This would not remove the file from your Vault, only the local copy.  Unless all of the files you are searching for happen to be in the same local folder, this is a "one at a time" solution.  I hope this helps!

Thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately this would be too time consuming for us since it could be lots of files in different folders.

It would be an acceptable solution if there are only few files that needs to be removed.

Hello @andreas.carlsson2 ,

I think you want to basically delete local files based off some iProperty condition - am I right ?

Hello @andreas.carlsson2 ,

I usually try to keep my local workspace as empty as possible – less danger of having outdated files there. But okay, you probably have your reasons.

What I would do is work the other way round:

  1. make sure that all your local files are checked in, Inventor Project Check In is a great tool to do this
  2. delete all local files
  3. search in Vault with your criteria
  4. download the files you need

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately there seems to be no way to search and delete files based on certain criteria (a certain value in a property field).

I think we have to delete all files as you suggest until Autodesk (or an add-in application) can make it possible (maybe through workspace sync).
