Vault Backup Error message

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello

Im presenting this issue

Issue:

When you try to restore a Vault backup, the following error message is displayed:

Restore failed because the backup has products that are not supported by the server

Causes:

This error can occur for the following reasons:

  • Product update was applied to the backup server, but hasn’t been applied to the restoring server.
  • Backup was created in higher version of Vault than the restoring server. (For example, the backup was created in Vault Professional, and you are restoring in Vault "basic.")
  • Backup was created in a newer release than the restoring server. (For example, the backup was created in Vault 2014, and you are restoring in Vault 2013.)

Solution:

Try the following solutions:

  1. Ensure the update, service pack, or hotfix of the backup server matches the restoring server.
  2. Ensure the Vault version and product match.
  3. Ensure the Vault releases match.

Can you give me more information about the solution part

On

1 do you mean the SQL Version that im running???

2 how can I compare the version that I have, I open the backupcontent.XML file and I have this

- <Products>
<Product Name="Autodesk.Productstream" Version="17.2.9.0" />
<Product Name="Autodesk.Vault" Version="17.2.9.0" />
<Product Name="Autodesk.VaultCollaboration" Version="17.2.9.0" />
<Product Name="Autodesk.VaultPro" Version="17.2.9.0" />
</Products>

Where can I compare this or how should I know what is the version of vault that im running?? The vault I have is the Vault 2013 (ADMS)

3 how can I see the release that I have

Here is the thing im working on a project of upgrade to version 2015 of vault, but we want to do the backup into a VM, right now I have a backup with the content  that I provide above, and this backup was made by another person which I no longer have communication, and since of that I do not know where he did this back up under what version of vault with what SQL version I do not know nothing about this, and I did a restore on vault 2015 but I have an error message saying that my backup is not compatible, so right now I downgrade to version 2013 and SQL R1 SP1 to do a restore and then upgrade to SQL R2 to do a backup again and then restore it into a vault 2015 version but I have this error when I try to do the restore, can you help me out to see what I need to update if is my sql or if I need to update downgrade vault, please help

Regards!

No difference.  The credentials for the users are still the same as they were at the time of the backup.

Moving machines, product editions, product versions etc do not change this type of data in the vault environment.

i have an administrative role remember that im working on a vm, what do you mean by saying inside the application, look i just intalled adms then i did the restore and thats it, im at the login window

I'm referring to a vault administrator - a user in the vault system that has the administrator role.

A bit of background - a vault environment consists of primarily two types of databases - the Vault database (can be named vault or just about anything - this holds the design data, property information, etc etc).  The other database is called the KnowledgeVaultMaster.  This database contains various other data - like what vaults have been created, where their filestores are, users credentials and what vaults they are authorized to log into, etc.

So when you peform a backup and restore, both your "Vault" database (design data) and the  KnowledgeVaultMaster (user and enviornment data) are restored.

So at the login window you are seeing, you will need to input user credentials that were valid at the time of the backup - an administrative user to the vault from your previous 2013 environment.

Does that background info help clarify a bit?

Yes, support will send you a utility, along with passcodes to reset the administrator password back to its' default value.  This will allow you to login and then change the password for the Administrator user.  Once in, you can reset other users passwords if needed.
