Item to file mapping and pdf creation

If I set a property mapping for State (Historical) file to file the property is mapped to the file and a pdf is created. But, if I delete this mapping and make an identical from Item to file as shown below nothing happens. Why?

I got it working now. I hadn't added the right setup at the security tab.

Please note pdf creation is supported only on file state transition.

Thanks for the replay. Yes, you are right. I was sloppy. I did some changes and thought I released the Item and got it. But, I released the file, not the Item.
