Inventor.exe restore old Vault Shortcuts.xml

Dear all,

It seems that Inventor.exe access to my

%appdata%\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_01_10_2023\192.168.67.118\Vaults\Vault\Objects\shortcuts.xml : see event logger below.

at this precise time, an old xml is "restored", and I loose my recent shortcuts.

Known issue ? Any solution ?

Sorry, I don't understand that language, but it looks like this record in the event viewer is informational, and it recorded a successful access to the XML file.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Also,

Ensure you access Vault using this IP address (192.168.67.118) and not the server name.

If you changed to the server name, this shortcut XML file will not be used.

Hi Irvin,

Thank you for your reply.
In Inventor and in Vault Explorer I am logged in with the IP address.

While I was working, Inventor was able to access my shortcuts, you are right. But this removes my last shortcut. I can see it "flashing" in Vault Explorer: All the shortcuts disappear, then the old ones come back. So I'm missing the recently added shortcuts. Same problem for at least one of my colleagues.

Your original statement was that the old shortcuts are restored. Vault does not store your personal shortcuts.

What version of Vault are you using?

What is the date on the shortcuts.xml file?

Try this.

Open just the Vault Client.

Add a new short cut

Close the Vault Client.

The XML should update and have today's date and time.

Open the Vault Client again.

Is your new shortcut there?

What is the date and time of the XML?

Opening Vault client... Auto logon.

I add a shorcut : my shortcuts.xml has the time : ‏‎16:16:51. I make a copy, same time.

I close de Vault Explorer.

XML is still there, time :  ‏‎16:18:22. => You're right.

I open Vault Explorer, time : 16:18:22.

for this time, my new shortcut is still there.

The next time I'll loose a shortcut, I'll check the date and time of my file.

In my memory, when a shortcut is deleted, the old file is restored with the old time. Is it in cash memory in Inventor ?

There is no "old file" to restore.

When you delete a shortcut, the XML file is updated with the changes.

AFAIK the xml with the changes are written to disk when the Vault client is closed in correct order. If the Vault client crashes the changes created in the last session are not saved. Can that be what happens?

I performed several tests.

The date of the xml is updated immediately when I add or delete a shortcut. If Vault crashes, my shortcuts keep.

Ok, must be another xml I'm hunting for then, or the behaviour is changed lately.

Hi guys !
I've just had the issue.

Finish my daily job.

Save, check in (in Inventor).

Close Inventor

=> I can see my Vault Shortcuts, in Vault "flashing". nothing during 1/2 second, then my new shortcuts are lost.

Time of my xml backup :  12:54:45

Time I close Inventor : ~16:15

Time of my Shortcuts.xml : ‏‎16:15:03.

Here is a comparison of my xml, and a screenshot of my Windows Explorer. Hope it helps !
