Inventor 2018 with Vault 2017

Hello guys,

We are having trouble using Inventor 2018 with Vault 2017 as we couldn't find a way to get Vault addin to the Inventor.

This won't be an issue in couple of weeks since we are going to use Vault 2018 too but in the meantime we would like to also use the vault addin. Is there a way to do this?

Hi Jay,

I am afraid to say that you would need to have Vault client 2018 installed to have Vault add-in loaded to Inventor 2018 and connect to Vault server 2018.

Typically the Vault server is backwards compatible with the previous two releases of the Vault Client (standalone and addins, like Inventor).  So a Vault 2018 server should work with an Inventor 2017 or 2016 install.

Next time you upgrade, you might start with the Vault server and then move to the newer Inventor release.

Correct! Vault should always "lead".

Yeah Jim,

This was our first Vault upgrade so we learned it now 🙂 But i guess for the sake of being practical, this should be told or built in the software and warn the users about upgrading, since Vault is generally used together with revit or inventor.
