Get the entire configuration of Vault Server for documentation purposes?

Does anyone know an easy way to get the entire configuration of Vault for documentation purposes?

Not the configuration file from the ADMS but more the lifecycle, categories, security settings, rules, etc.

Hi @tschaeferZNBXX,

The best way is to document these settings/requirements as you set up the Vault Server. The Vault help talks about all of these options but that's not the same as documenting how you chose to configure Vault. As every customer uses Vault differently not everyone uses the same settings the same way. The power of Vault is to customize it to fit your customer's needs. 

In most files in Vault, you can select and then use the Ctrl + C and past the data into a document to help capture the settings when you document this. With this technique and screenshots, you could document all of the configurations in Vault.

Yeah I have done this before but was hoping there was an easier way then going through each screen and each transaction to document this.

Have you posted over in the Vault Customization Forum?  There might be someone who has done a program thru the API that has pulled such info.  I would be interested to see if it has been done too.

I would suggest posting in the Vault Idea Station to request this feature be added to Vault. It would be nice to have an easy way to export and document all of the vault settings.

FYI - there is an article here on exporting some information to a text file.  The script exports information about the lifecycles and related information for comparing changes in the configuration between exports.  I modified the code so i could get all group members of each group easily (any group you want members for has to be in a lifecycle).  i imported the text file into excel and made a table from it.  it saved me lots of time.

The original script isn't quite correct, I had to update a variable name that wasn't the same in all places.  I've attached the original script and the modified one.  You have to update information in the ini file from the original post below specific to your environment.
