Edit from thin client

I need to give a user in the ERP department rights to edit certain properties of items through the BOM view of items in the thin client. These are  custom iproperties of associated ipts - like erp code, etc

Is this possible? What roles or rights should be assigned to this thin client user? Can a thin client user even edit?
