Copy design exclude don't work

When I make a copy using the copy design fonction, the exclusion does not work.

Exclude doesn't work on part files the way you expect.

May I know what do you expect here ?

Actually there are factors to restrict exclude of part files from assemblies. Constraints etc which vault cannot control.

I understand it's difficult.
My original goal was to copy an assembly without content center parts

Hello. It's just to manage the display of the part. The result is the same, the CC files are copied.

Content Center parts are not excluded.

No parts or subassemblies can be excluded in Copy Design because it breaks the model.

Exclude can only be used on parent documentation files. If this is set on any other file in the structure, that file will be reused during the copy operation.

If exclude doesn't work, if exclude "breaks the model", it shouldn't be an option. If exclude can only be used on "related" drawings, which can be deleted manually without issue, exclude is useless. If exclude is greyed out, I expect a note that says why.

Years have gone by and still there isn't an option to disregard folder structure for copy design.

Years have gone by and file status options are greyed out, text is coloured red, without explanatory note.

Years have gone by and still there isn't an option to shift-select files, or select folders, during copy design. Each file has to be modified individually.

Years have gone by and still you can only initiate a copy design exclusively with vault.

1st edit:

Years have gone by and still, during copy design, new file names, new vault path, file status, just gets reset or modified without warning or message.

Years have gone by and still there are random restrictions everywhere that make no sense.

Outright embarrassing.

2nd edit:

Very 'funny' message during copy design stating "Model cannot be copied", reason: "Part already written on disk". Looking in the Vault AND local project folder and there's absolutely nothing there, zero files, nada, nothing. What is this absurdity? Can restart all over again and must change the path for every single file individually. Again.

Ridiculous functionality.

In Copy Design, Click View -> Panels -> Folders.

Option 1:

• Multi-select Files
• Right-click on one of those files and select "Copy To"
• Select the folder, and the selected files will be copied to the selected folder.

Option 2:

• Multi-select Files
• Drag and drop those files into the folder pane and select the folder.
• All select files will be copied to the selected folder, disregarding the original folder structure.

There are two ways Copy Design will give an explanation on failures

1. The error dialog gives a list of all errors that you can copy and place in Excel to keep the list.

2. If you have closed this dialog, you can hover your mouse over the red "X", a tooltip will appear with the error message.

Copy Design can be initiated inside of Inventor while you have the model open.

Right-click on the model in the Vault Browser and select Copy Design.

Files will get reset based on what is happening with the child or parent model.

They can also be reset using the "Reuse" or Reuse Branch" options.

Thank you Irvin for your efforts.

It seems that the difference between your Vault and mine is that I'm using basic 24 and you're using Vault super ultimate expert plus 2025, because all this functionality you're showing is absent in my version. We've upgraded from vault basic 21.

Unfortunately, I cannot afford to spend an afternoon providing examples and videos when I have very low hope in succeeding in the end.
