We've downloaded the VDS and updated to .1 version but we don't get to see the quick menus like organisations or tasks. Do we need to do something else after downloading, doing the setup and updating?

In regards to your later post http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/vault-customization/numbering-is-not-done-in-data-standard/td-p/679146... that already shows that you succeeded to enable the custom objects, I think this thread could be closed. Can you confirm that you just missed to have the custom object definition for task, person, organization and transmittal in your vault?
