Vault Data Standard Customization - Browse button or get the Save As dialog box

Hi Everyone,

I want to fill out the main and required properties by using Vault Data Standard, but I don't want to enter the path and/or filename via Data Standard. Then, I'd like to add a Browse button on the Vault Data Standard dialog box or would like to get the Save As dialog box after having filled out all the properties and having pressed OK. Is this possible?

By default, if a remove the path and filename of the Vault Data Standard, it saves the file in the Workspace location without requesting a user-specified location. I'd like to specify the location manually. The reason why I want to do this is because the Vault folder structure has a lot of levels (subfolders) and it is also kind of complex.

Thanks!

Hi,

Here is a link which might help you with the vault folders.

As for the filename, be aware that you could achieve what you wish and more without having the need to show the save as dialog. Moreover I don't know if it is possible to show the save as dialog or not or why you want to show the save-as dialog at all.

But, If you want to have the file name computed based on certain projects or folders that you have selected, or driven by numbering scheme set in the Vault, etc. can be achieved with data standard. You might have to tweak and change the Default.ps1 file in order to achieve these things.

Hope it helps!

Hi Wangdu,

Thanks for your reply! Where can I find the folderPicker? Where can I download it? How can I implement it? The link you gave me describes the benefits of using the folderPicker, but how can I get it and implement it?

I wanted to get the Save As dialog box because Data Standard was always saving in the workspace right away (first level) since I removed the path, docName and folder fields from the Data Standard dialog box.

The company is still thinking of standardizing naming schemes and I know that I can use Vault Naming Schemes or Data Standard. However, at this point, since there is no standard, that's why I want to enter a user-defined input/filename.

Thanks again!

You can use the Vault built-in Vault Folder Browser as shown here:
